Northern Collin County Leadership Program

About the Northern Collin County Leadership Program - DOWNLOAD APPLICATION

Northern Collin County Leadership Program Mission:
Working together for the unity of Northern Collin County

The Northern Collin County Leadership Program was developed when, in October 2003, the McKinney Chamber Board of Directors identified building relationships with the Northern Collin County cities as a long term strategic goal. In June 2004 the leadership of the cities north of Highway 380 within Collin County met. From that meeting came a consensus for the need to pull together representatives from these communities in a program where they could address issues facing all of them, learn from the experts and work in a cooperative nature for the betterment of the entire Northern Collin County region.

The program is beginning its sixth year. The objective of the NCCLP is to provide the North Texas region with a diverse group of individuals, representing all sectors of the region, who are committed to assuming a greater responsibility for the future of the area through leadership. Community trusteeship – leaders committing themselves to making their community and the region a better place for all.

Spanning ten months from September to June, this challenging educational experience is designed to: · develop your awareness of the Northern Collin County region · provide you with personal leadership training · enhance networking for positive accomplishments throughout the region · and instill the practice of volunteer service in each participant through a commitment to the alumni association.

Participants in the program are chosen through an application and selection process, assuring a mix of people who represent the various Northern Collin County communities. Beginning with a 2-day retreat in September that focuses on individual and community leadership skills, the class then meets once a month to examine specific aspects of the community, pulling it all together with a leadership focus.

Leadership Skills Facilitator - Carolyn Corbin

The program has been taken to a higher level with the addition of leadership skills facilitator, Carolyn Corbin, President of the Center for the 21st Century. Renowned author, speaker and socioeconomic futurist, Carolyn inspires class members to think globally as they plan for their community’s future, striving to make it a better place to call “home.” www.c21c.com
